Pretty difficult question as it's a question of taste :-) If your are new to linux and want to keep your windows (dual-boot), Mandrake would be my advice: in a class with users without experience of linux, they all have been able to install Mandrake (10.1) dual booting windows without a problem in -/+ 2 hours. I also have it on my laptop since 2/3 years now and it works pretty well Fedora Core is really nice, but if I'm not wrong, there is no possibility in the graphical installation to redimension your windows partition (by the way always do a backup and a defrag before)
