Do you have a valid and functioning SSL certificate on the IP that points to your "iastate.edu" domain?
Have you tried deleting all sites cookies and auto-login passwords that your browser stores, then retrying? Are you using pop-up blocker software? Does this happen on ALL browsers, or just Netscape?
