I've been using PHP for about 6 months and I'm ok with it but I'm now

$this->

What does this do? I know it has something to do with classes but can't
quite get my head around it.

I am not expert but I have a general idea of what it is and used for, for example you have a class named test.
Inside that class you have a function named testfunc.

If you were going to call that function you would use $this->testfunc(); *I think*
I am sure you will get some more detailed explanations from the experts though :)

I am new here so thought I would start to contribute.
