 New Comment:

I see this bug with 5.0.5, Windows 2003, IIS. It's terribly
problematic. Please investigate.

Sometimes php-cgi.exe doesn't hang, but when it does, my entire web
server goes crazy now.

we have a similar problem: we have developed a java class which calls
The php-cgi.exe (of php version 5.0.4 on Win2000)
to be able to run php scipts inside our Java-Framework. With
php-versions prior to 5 everything is okay, but now migrating to php5,

php-cgi does what it is supposed to do (producing output)
and then hangs and hangs and hangs until the process is killed
manually.

same thing happens when starting the same script via comand line
("php-cgi.exe index.php").

This bug-thread ends without a solution, and i now wonder if anyone has
been able to solve this problem.

You can build the debug version yourself,
see README.WIN32-BUILD-SYSTEM in the source snapshot package:
