Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2012-12-18 22:28:54] willfi...@php.net Thank you for this bug report. To properly diagnose the problem, we need a short but complete example script to be able to reproduce this bug ourselves. A proper reproducing script starts with <?php and ends with ?>, is max. 10-20 lines long and does not require any external resources such as databases, etc. If the script requires a database to demonstrate the issue, please make sure it creates all necessary tables, stored procedures etc. Please avoid embedding huge scripts into the report. You need to provide a sample script that's causing the issue. This sounds like an environment specific problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2012-12-07 13:38:20] skunk at ipfrom dot com i forgot to say the sendmail command works fine and even executing from the command line a script containing the mail() function is practically instantaneous, it happens only if apache (2.2.23) executes the script. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2012-12-07 13:12:58] skunk at ipfrom dot com Description: ------------ i'm seeing this on more than one production servers: after some days of uptime the mail() function starts to take about a minute to execute and only a restart of apache (prefork) makes it fast again. one of the web servers is running roundcube which has the possibility to either use the mail() function or to connect directly to a smtp server, with the former after few days sending a mail becomes very slow while with the latest it's always fast, on a side note, when the slowness starts happening apache takes a long time to kill all processes on restart. thank you. Test script: --------------- sorry, i'm unable to replicate this issue because it happens on production servers with real traffic. Expected result: ---------------- mail() function should exec fast Actual result: -------------- when mail() slows down a restart of apache is required ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=63719&edit=1
