 New Comment:

After some googling :
"In setting up this new server I discover to my surprise that the
*.connect_charset directives are a Gentoo specific patch to PHP, and RHEL's
version of PHP doesn't recognize them! Now how do I set PHP to connect to MySQL
with the latin1 charset?"

Description:
------------
After updating from PHP-5.3.6 to 5.3.8 directive mysql.connect_charset seems to
be missing.

Is this a bug or wanted? If it's wanted, how should I now handle the db
communication? Please give me a reference for this new behaviour.
