This bug has been fixed in CVS. In case this was a PHP problem, snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change will be in the next snapshot. There is no difference between 4.3.0-pre1 and CVS HEAD version in the part of code blamed in 4.2.3, so I don't see the problem there.
