ID: 52961 Updated by: cataphr...@php.net Reported by: ashafer01 at gmail dot com Summary: ldap_unbind() closes connection -Status: Open +Status: Feedback Type: Feature/Change Request Package: LDAP related PHP Version: 5.3.3 Block user comment: N New Comment: What ldap_unbind actually does is that, as long as there are no more references to the resource, it triggers a call to ldap_unbind_s. The manual says: The ldap_unbind() call is used to unbind from the directory, terminate the current association, and free the resources contained in the ld structure. Once it is called, the connection to the LDAP server is closed, and the ld structure is invalid. The ldap_unbind_s() call is just another name for ldap_unbind(); both of these calls are synchronous in nature. http://linux.die.net/man/3/ldap_unbind_s Can you clarify what you want? Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2010-10-01 00:49:11] ashafer01 at gmail dot com Description: ------------ ldap_unbind() closes the connection rather than simply unbinding. This is not desirable as some LDAP server configurations require an unbind before being able to bind again, thus greatly increasing the expense of authenticating via LDAP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=52961&edit=1
