Morgan, We have about four mental rotation tasks in the battery. There is a sheperd-style test that uses mirror-image foils. See here for a normative study using it:

I published about it here: http://obereed.net/docs/Mueller2010.pdf There are two more rotation tasks modeled after ones used in the US DoD tri-services test battery: a 'matrix rotation' task and the so-called 'mannikin' test. I've used the matrix rotation before, and you can consult the Perez tech report from the 1980s for a lot of details about its psychometric properties. The mannikin test is pretty raw and untested--you are asked to judge which hand a flag is in, from a person who might be facing toward or away from you, and who might be upside down.
