Hmm, ok. Well my problem is that when i make a change my slave server does not seem to know about it. E.g. the salve does not receive the notification. I see nothing in my logs about a notification being sent to the slave.
I'm not 100% sure i have my slave configured correctly either. All i have done is added the IP of the slave in the allow-axfr-ips secton And also i have disable-axfr=no Do i need to do anything else for to make a server a slave Luca From: John Miller [mailto:johnm...@brandeis.edu] Sent: Tuesday, 19 February 2013 12:50 PM To: Luca Salvatore Cc: pdns-users@mailman.powerdns.com Subject: Re: [Pdns-users] Slave support needed on master? Hi Luca, If your server's set up as a master for xyz.com<http://xyz.com>, then the notifies should fail--your server has the correct data already. It won't hurt for your master server to NOTIFY itself--it'll just ignore it. When I make a change (e.g. add a record) I can see the following logs: Received NOTIFY for xyz.com<http://xyz.com> from 172.31.56.98 but slave support is disabled in the configuration Received unsuccessful notification report for 'xyz.com<http://xyz.com>' from 172.31.56.98:53<http://172.31.56.98:53>, rcode: 4 Removed from notification list: 'xyz.com<http://xyz.com>' to 172.31.56.98:53<http://172.31.56.98:53> 172.31.56.98 is the IP address of the PDNS server, which is the master server as I mentioned. So on the config on the master server do I need to slave=yes for the notify messages to work correctly?
