I think just about anything is an improvement over Win98. I'm running Win2K on all of my machines at the moment, and it's good - relatively stable (much more than '98 ever was), offers higher network security, and it's pretty quick, though '98 had better multimedia capabilities. From what I have heard, XP Pro is quicker, more stable, and has the multimedia capabilities of '98 and more. Prettier to look at, too - if you're into that... Personally I don't give a flying F*** about how pretty the OS is, as long as it's damn stable... and fairly easy to use... Oh what the hell, might as well make it nice to look at....
