You shouldn't be using that much ink. I would imagine the supplied cartridges are identical to the replacements, but perhaps they weren't full when the printer was unpacked. I get about a dozen 12 x 17 prints out of the two cartridges on my Epson 1200. Perhaps a few more if I'm lucky. Are you working on a Mac? If so, you can try the Color Synch calibrations for input and output. If not, you may have to try other calibration software, until you find something that works. My monitor sucks, so I have to make allowances for the difference. I've found that I can make a good print first try most of the time, even though it doesn't look quite right on the monitor.
