That is exactly my feeling, too, and I almost injected the thought into the DSLR debate sooner. When DSLRs are as common and as economical as film SLRs then the situation will also be similar, ie. the vast majority of cameras will NEVER have a second lens bought for them, and the future brand selection of that person will be totally uninfluenced by the last. They are just as likely to choose a camera because it matches their luggage than because it matches the lens mount of their last purchased camera.
At that time the present DSLR manufacturers will find that their digital heritages mean nothing, and they will feel the squeeze from Sharp, Sony, Sanyo, Toshiba, Philips, Agfa, probably Walmart and Bootes, and hopefully Pentax (but I hope we don't need to wait that long).
