Remember this: There are things, still, that you can do with film that you can’t do with digital. B&W darkroom stuff like split printing & still greater color depth on chromes (w/ pro scanning).
There are things you can do with digital that you can’t do with film. Varying regions of contrast stands out to me. There are things that both can do equally well. Shoot with a Petzval lens. A very unique image form that cannot be precisely duplicated in digital processing.
