I mentioned the black Friday deals at KEH and B&H. I was able to resist the K-3 III temptation, but succumbed to the DFA* 70-200/2.8 for $900 (with hood and caps). It arrived today. It is noticably larger than the 80-200 that John has so graciously loaned me for the past few years. It is also weather sealed, focuses silently, has quick shift focusing, and selectable focus ranges.
It did not, however, come with a manual. I was able to read about the focus switch on the Ricoh website: https://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/products/lens/k/telephoto/hdpentax-dfa-70-200/ However it isn’t entirely clear how to remove the tripod foot. I twisted the “lock” knob but can only get the foot to wiggle, not come off. I may be insufficiently forceful, but I’ve broken things before by being more than sufficiently forceful. I tried to find a manual for it on the Ricoh site, but no luck.
