What I remember from my four college years in New England is the way the
snow would crunch under my feet as I walked when the temperature was very
low.  It got so cold that my nostrils would freeze together, and I would
have to breathe through my mouth, resulting in cold stabbing sensations in
my chest and lungs.  There is nothing like a -30F day in the Upper Valley!
