Maybe. But it sounded to me like one of those times where permission might be
forthcoming, while forgiveness might not.

If there was actual security around, I'd have asked if it was Ok to wade in
far enough to get the shot I wanted.
What's the worst they could do? Tell you "NO, you can't do that"?
Sometimes it *IS* easier to get permission.

Hi Stan,
I set up kind of on the ruins of the structure on the north side. Near the
google maps marker here https://goo.gl/maps/C6Xpqf1SpiyK1TUm7 . I
actually wanted to get in the water, but they had no swimming signs
everywhere and trail security was around. I wondered if wading could be
interpreted as swimming. So instead I set up right on the edge of the
structure.

Very nice!
I’ve been there a couple of times, haven’t yet figured out a
view/composition that I was pleased with. This looks like you were on the
southern side?

Between Dresden and Penn Yan, NY there is a rail trail called the Keuka

are these falls plus some others farther down stream. Its a very
pleasant
walk.
