Jupiter (I guess it was Jupiter - no brighter star in the sky) was real close to another star a couple of nights ago, such that they lined up and appeared to be a vertical line in the sky ... almost like a tiny celestial dagger.

I don't know if anyone will be positioned to get a better view of it, but Jupiter will be about one and a half moon diameters away from the moon in a couple of months.  It looks like the best view would be someplace a time zone or two east of me where the sky would be a bit darker, but they hadn't also set.
