Back when I used to get PDML using the digests I was told it broke threading. But I don't think it arbitrarily inserted my replies into unrelated threads.

Hmmm. I don't recall having such a habit.

I've noticed for some time that unrelated posts or even threads will suddenly
pop up within a specific thread. I assume this is cuased by some glitch in the
software.

It's been like that for a long time, really. On and off.
I don't know all the causes, but Joe Tainter's habit of starting new
threads by replying to existing ones certainly adds to the confusion. :-)

Some mail clients, and some mail servers, seems to break the email
metadata (message heads) too. Which leads to messages orphaned from the
rest of the tread.

Has anyone else noticed messed up threading on PDML? Or is it just me?

Lately several topics appear threaded under other completely different
topics.
