I picked up my new MacMini today, my new recreational computer.
Two of my three external hard drives aren’t working: One has an irreparably
damaged partition map, and another (my main external drive) has its light
blink for a few seconds and click, but doesn’t show up at all.
Could the crashing i/o card on the old Mini have damaged these drives? Is
there any way to repair the one that’s not showing up at all?

Or one of the drives may have been what crashed the i/o card. There may be a way
to recover the data from the drives, but I don't know if there's a way to
"repair" any of them that I would trust for anything other than trying to copy
the data off of it.
This is where you're gonna' need a good, qualified independent computer repair
shop.
