I forgot to mention that the 28-105 is arguably the sharpest kit lens I've ever used. I picked it up because I couldn't afford the 24-70, already had a tammy 28-75, and didn't have a weather proof standard range zoom.

In decent light, I'm quite happy to leave it on my camera. I don't know how it compares, other than speed and cost with the 24-70.

Also, when I got my K-1 I had a K-3 and a K-3II which made a nice pair for when I wanted to use two bodies. I held off on selling one, but these days only use one of them when I want to mount the 18-250 to have a small wide range camera to carry around, I should do something with the K-3. One option, and probably the smart one, would be to sell it. Another option would be to have the IR block filter removed.

This is a topic that comes up every now and then, and the list of shops doing it seems to change on a year by year basis. Has anyone had the conversion done lately? Who did it, are you happy with their work and what did it cost?
