They do "clean up" when living as waders. These ones have only had water for
a day. The ones which share our rubbish dump with other scavengers (egrets,
baboons & humans) are another story.

I spent some time once by the side a Lake Sidamo in Ethiopia where there
were a lot of maribou storks, and I disagree. I think they're rather
fascinating close up. They reminded me of old school masters, hunched and
wise-looking. They used to stroll along the track by the lakeside, among the
people. They're very tall and rather wonderful.
