Larry,
The idea for balancing the outside and inside seems to have worked out.
I am not sure if the outside view adds much, except that the windows are
not completely black. Maybe it helps to see the sign.
I think it also looks better than having the windows completely blown
out like in the other band photos.
The composition and the poses of the first photo are much better than
that of the second.
If the fingers weren't cut off, it would be even better.
I agree, the first one is definitely my favorite. I've noticed that
dancers have this annoying habit that when I've got a shot perfectly
framed, they'll go and do a pose that looks great and sticks one of
their limbs outside the frame.
On a different subject:
The guitarist (Rich), and probably the saxophone players look familiar,
but the band name, "The Rhythm Roustabouts", doesn't ring a bell.
Either I just forgot the band name, or I may have seen them elsewhere,
in a different band or on the dance floor (Rich).
Rich Werden is quite active in the local scene. He was the MC the
previous weekend at Blues Quake, he has also played at a lot of house
parties.
Next time, please say "hi!" to Philippe, - he is a nice guy; it's been a
while since I've seen him in person.
Will do, yes he is. Check out Nicole's photos of Bluesquake, he was
teaching there too.

Cheers,
Igor

I took these at the weekly dance on Sunday. We had a live band, with
great
music, and a fun time was had.
I was trying to get some good promo shots for the venue, so when I
noticed
that the light outside was close to the same level as inside, I moved the
sign to where I could photograph it with the musicians, and asked this
couple
to dance where I could get them in the frame too.
