Not sure exactly how detailed you want the answer... :-)
There were four classes. Prints in either colour or mono, and digital files
in "general" or in "nature". For the first three classes the principle was
"anything goes", while the nature category had very strict rules. No
artefacts or obvious signs of human activity should be present in the image.
Contrails, for example, would disqualify a landscape shot. The tools allowed
in post-processing were also severly limited, strict documentary style.

A while back I got some ephemeral fame over at Flickr for an image. It was
one of sixteen submitted for the Trierenberg Photo Cirquit in Austria. Out
the sixteen submitted, six were shown modest appreciation. The photo picked
up by Flickr was not among them.
