FWIW, the storm that passed through Raleigh was just about exactly what
the local weather forecast was calling for, except for the 2" of snow we
didn't get in between bouts of sleet & freezing rain.

The headlines overblew the storm by making it sound like the entire
eastern third of the country was going to get socked, but this is
still a most impressive storm system. the NAM weather model is
predicting a very wide area over West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland,
Pennsylvania and New Jersey to get over 24". And a widening area in
south central Pennsylvania is looking at over 40" snow depth. There is
even a small spot of white there (44-48") and THAT is as high as the
color key goes.

The storm that's headed up the east coast reached here about 4:00 am.
We're supposed to get sleet, 2 inches of snow and freezing rain on top
of it. So far it's been all sleet, just enough to make the street &
sidewalk treacherous.
My new idiot neighbor has already been out in his 4WD pickup truck twice
this morning.
I've got my car backed far enough down my driveway that it should be
safe unless some moron comes sliding down the street to break off the
telephone pole when they hit it.
I don't really mind snow, but if we've got to have it, I want it to come
down fast & heavy so the idiots get bogged down & stranded real early so
it will reduce the hazard when I *WALK* down to the store later.
I think I'll go make another pot of coffee ... or maybe tea or soup.
Oh! Here's a bottle of Southern Comfort.
Never mind.
