Yes, that is still the case. The Japanese seem to be extremely fond of vending machines, which are found everywhere and serve almost everything. BTW, I have become fond of iced coffee beverages in the can myself, preferring the ones from illy, the great Italian coffee company: http://www.illy.com/wps/wcm/connect/en/coffee-away-from-home/illy-issimo-ready-to-drink-coffee I was taken back a bit, however, when I read the label, learning it is a product of Denmark, sold by the Coca-Cola Company. It is still fine Italian coffee.
