During my ongoing clean-up trying to de-clutter around here I was cleaning up some stuff in my basement. I found an envelope with a couple of film strips.
There was no date on it, but because of a couple of other photos, one of which I actually remember taking, I'm dating it to late summer 1990. Which means I most likely used a Super Program w/ SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.4 Based on the date & what I can see in another (hopelessly out of focus, motion blurred) photo, I took this out at my Mom's house in the country. The little girl is (probably) the daughter of one of my sister's friends. I remember them being around there that summer. https://www.flickr.com/photos/jb_sessoms/19634072932p I have no idea how these two strips of film ended up in my basement, because the environment down there is not good for keeping documents & such, but this is the second or third cache of old photos I've found down there. All I *know* is *I* didn't put them down there. It's a fairly thin (slightly underexposed) negative on TMax-100 and quite the worse for having been down in that basement for so long. The emulsion is failing. I scanned it with a Nikon CoolscanIV ED & cleaned it up in Photoshop. The Coolscan produces an RGB image even for B&W films. I applied Nik Color Efects Pro Dark Contrasts & Silver Effects Pro Antique Plate filters and used Tony Kuyper's actions for resizing & save for the web. Considering the sorry state of the negative I started with, I'm pretty pleased with the results. -- Science - Questions we may never find answers for.
