10 hours with nothing to do but look out the window and hope I can get a photo 
of anything interesting before it passes by.  I found the landscapes quite 
interesting so I was never bored.

Just wait until I get onto The Ghan... but I'll probably show fewer photos of 
the travelling and more of the sights where we stopped.  It was hard getting 
good photos from the train, not just because of the movement but also because 
the windows were tinted.  They were also double glazed which affected the 
sharpness a bit, and I was often fighting reflections.  It would have been nice 
to have an outdoor viewing car but I might not have lasted more than 5 minutes 
in the heat.

Yes, it's actually not too different from the Canterbury Plains where I live, 
but on a larger scale.
