I am keeping you and your wife and your family in my thoughts and prayers, Paul.

I have been through similar situations recently with my sister, other
relatives, friends and our office manager.  It is an extremely
difficult process for all concerned, but I have seen some remarkable
medical victories.  Keep up her spirits (and your own).  It does help.
