Batteries get damaged and bad things happen. I recently dropped a
battery on some gravel and after charging it up was a little freaked
out when my K-5 IIs started mirror flopping all over the place. After
I finally calmed down, I realized that the battery was overcharged as
switching to a nearly dead battery did not reproduce the same problem.
I tossed the battery. It was an OEM battery though and that made me
sad. But yeah, damage to batteries tends to sometimes make them catch
on fire. Not good. At least the K-R is ok.
