Hi Paul, I did the same and received a similiar note. It just sounds as if this guy just did not know Pentax. As you said, seems a nice guy, just misinformed by someone.
He also rasied a question to me about whether Pentax ever made a body with six pins for the flash contacts. He has been given a flash, supposedly Pentax Z series compatible, but it has six pins on the shoe. My PZ-1p has 4 contacts, the AF500FTZ has four pins, as I've never seen a n AF360FGZ, I'd assume it has at least one more to account for the additional features, but a six flash contact body? I tentatively told him no Pentax body I was aware of has six flash contacts.
