Most PJ stuff I do is not time critical, sure there are deadlines, but no front page
stuff. Its
more like some city news paper will call me and say, we need a shot of that 2 headed
cow born
out on Smiths farm to fill page 26. Plenty of time to shoot, devel, scan with the neg
scanner
and email off the results.

but then, there is a semi in front of me that hits a bridge, rolls on its side and
causes a general
mess sending traffic into chaos, I whip out my MZ-S and catch the driver crawling out
through the
broken wind shield. I take a few snaps of the general carnage and whilst doing this
another PJ shows
up with a Nikon Digital. He snaps of 100 shots in 3 minutes and plugs it into his
laptop and with cell
phone attached and the images are at the office almost immediatly. My pics are not yet
at the lab...

For any PJ work now, especially freelance, you need a digital. I really don't want to
go out and buy
a second kit, Nikon, and have to buy all new glass for it. I have already invested
heavily in glass and
maintained my customer loyalty to PENTAX. I guess I would just like to see that my
loyalty has not
been misplaced.

I truly believe in the PENTAX product and have been using it over 20 years and have
marvelled at the
progress made and watched other manufacturers fall in line behind. But something has
changed, suddenly
it seems that the leaders in the new technologies are Canon and Nikon.
