had a look at the Sigma 17-70 2.8-4 and the Pentax 17-70 4 today. The Pentax unit was much much faster than the last unit for AF, about on par with any of my other lenses but much quieter. The Sigma was $100 more and offered a 7 year warranty and f2.8 at the wide open end, and AF was faster than the Pentax but i decided to go with the Pentax. The sharpness looked a bit nicer, is lighter and the focus ring moves the correct way. LOL
