No I'm just stupid ;) I realised a few days ago that I could have coped just fine with my road bike but these TT bikes get you into a much better aero position which is worth a couple of km/h extra speed. Plus the seat tube is set at a steeper angle which helps the legs for the run if you see a good bike fitter. And, most importantly, they make you look damn fast. I got the bike second hand at a fraction of its retail price. Same goes for the wheels. I'm resting post-race now, had a blinder compared to my two previous 70.3s and finished in just a touch over 6hrs. All of the problems that plagued me before were fine and I made no mistakes in my transitions. The bike split was 3:00:02 which isn't bad for 90km considering the hills on the course. Once I can work on my run after last years injuries I should "easily" go under 6 hours. Assuming I do another one... holy crap you can hurt on the run. I might try and get some photos of the outlet track which forms part of the run course but I'm not sure I can do it justice. My wife managed to get a handful of photos of me while racing so I'll upload them later, probably after we get home in a few days.
