My son-in-law (http://www.bigstormpicture.com) originally shot with a
Canon 20D, then went to a 50D and recently got a full frame 6D. So it
was a genuine surprise to me when I got an email from him last week
informing me that he had purchased a Pentax camera, though his choice
was a bit of a surprise: the Optio WG-3

The price is quite low on these right now, but it has the same 16MP
sensor that we all (well most of us) know and love. The thing that put
him over the top on it, is its ability to do slow-motion video (that
is, shoot it at super speed) in addition to being elements-resistant.

The Phoblographer's review:

Reviews for the camera (on Amazon) are a bit uneven, but 2/3 of the
reviews give it 5 stars.
20 reviews at B&H are generally good (4-1/2 stars overall)

I think there is a good argument to be made (particularly for under
$200) for having one of these cameras in the stable, particularly when
you are going into an environment where you don't want to risk the
"good camera".

There is ONE whole photo taken with the WG-3 that has been accepted
into the Pentax Photo Gallery:

I don't have a problem with idiots.
I have a problem with the fact that they have an internet connection.
