For my second center-hole-converted ME-II, I had a friend use his drill to extend the hold straight through the brown metal plate at the bottom of the winder. The result is a much cleaner affair than my first converted ME-II, where the underbelly electronics are exposed.
I must say, the ME-II grip is so satisfyingly substantial that now that my Super Programs have the grip + center-hold tripod mount, I'm all but cured of my wish to replace them with Ricoh XR-Ps. I'm tempted to do without a neckstrap! Neither the XR-P's accessory power grip nor its accessory 1.4 fps accessory PG-4 winder has a grip area that comes close to the ME-II's for holding a heavy setup in one hand. PS: To the two PDMLers awaiting my ME-IIs' spare parts, please wait till this weekend. This weekend is hellishly busy for me.
