One option: If you strip "/lightbox" off the first URL and open that, you can step through the images in sequence reasonably easily. It's still a bit too many, I agree completely.
However, Flickr has changed things around so much none of the viewing tactics I used to like are really there any more. Soon I will use a different site as I'm getting more and more frustrated with it.
