It's a downward spiral, you cut back on news. The way to stop it is to figure out how to attract new readers not cut/debase content. That only causes the loss of more readers with attendant loss of revenue, which leads to more loss of content. Eventually the paper will fold or be nothing more than an advertising sheet. I've seen this trend bucked just once.
