I know people who would attempt similar things with mechanical film
cameras but not digital. Maybe one of those firms that specialize in
making IR cameras out of old DSLRs would have the expertise, but I doubt
they'd give a guarantee that they could actually return you a working
camera, and they'd still insist on being paid.

I asked CRIS what it would cost to just straighten the sensor and
disable shake reduction. They said that they are a factory authorized
repair facility and such a repair would not meet their required standards.
Any recommendations for someone who would be willing to do a
such a repair?

I sent my camera in to criscam for a repair estimate on the crooked sensor.
The estimate came back as $437.
They said that making one good camera out of two would be more expensive.
It's looking like it's time to shop for a K-5II, and relegate this camera
to backup status. It does still take photos, I just don't get the advantages
of shake reduction.
