I had that same freeze problem 3-4 times in a couple years with the K20D, only with third-party D-LI50 batteries almost empty and never with genuine batteries. Extracting and re-inserting the battery (or replacing it with a charged one) always solved the problem on the spot. With the K-5, it also happened with the original D-LI90 battery. Again, it happened 3-4 times in a couple years and replacing the battery made the camera alive again. I never had to wait for fixing the problem, so I never experienced more that a few seconds blackout. Whenever I'm paid for shooting (which seldom happens), I always take two bodies with me.
