Basically, yeah, the faint tonal differences are intentional. But my first cut had more separation; the version you saw had been tweaked to push the whites right up close to 100% which flattened the tone curve near the top. I backed that off and restored the original version once again, so have a look at it now. It's subtle, but the outline of her arm is visible.
As I said to Jack, you need you monitor to be well calibrated as I push the tones at both ends of the scale, without blowing them out.
