There are some great photos here. "Old Wharf" is particularly poignant--the sunken boat in the background really makes the shot.

About 25 years ago, I was the site services manager at the plant. The first 6 shots are my old air compressor house and I was responsible for the sign in shot 5. Half way down the second page are photos of my power station and the generators that I lovingly maintained and operated, all now derelict, yet somehow beautiful. It's a tale of how some of the old economy in the UK (and elsewhere) has decayed and gone away over the years. For this factory the demise of coal mining in the UK in the wary 80s resulted in the loss of demand for almost all of the market for the explosives produced here.
