Long Branch, NJ, also started as a resort. on the beach is Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, named for the 7 US presidents, from Grant to Wilson, who vacationed there. I went through a long period of economic decline, but has seen new resort devlopment over the past decade or so. I am not certain how badly it was damaged by Sandy.
In any event, my son was born at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, which is why the name struck a chord with me.
