Current day Republican Party leadership pretty much confirms for me Abraham
Lincoln's statement that "You *CAN* fool some of the people all of the
time." They've been taken over by the preachers of hate & the tinfoil
hat brigade.

Hey, I acknowledge being moderately left of the Canadian center, which
makes me a raving commie by US standards, but I think it?s good for
politics when there are sensible conservatives saying things like
?don?t go so fast, don?t queer the business pitch, don?t assume
spending more will solve the problem? and so on. Seems to me like the
big problem in US politics is the lack of an intelligent conservative
voice.
Those British pinkos over at the Economist pretty well summed it up
back in December 2011:

Massachusetts lost a Republican senate seat held by Scott Brown; he's
a nice guy that seemed to truly care, and he's the type of republican
the party needs. As you might imagine, on a number of occasions he's
been chastised by the party for not being Republican enough...like the
time he said rape was a bad thing.
Anyway...I can't even vote, so I'm going to stop. I have a bunch of
lenses I want to put up for sale on Friday and need to sort the photos
out. That seems far more pressing right now that achieving political

But I do agree with you on the Tea Party. Have not heard anything
rational come out of their corner yet.
