Asunto: Ben Kanarek ponders jump from K-5 to D600 or 6D

Interesting blog entry from former PDMLer but still loyal Pentax
fashion shooter, Benjamin Kanarek. Based on the premise that he wants
FF but Pentax hasn't delivered, he steps through a decision process of
comparing the two new "inexpensive" FF's.

Two very interesting related comments in the follow-ups: Benjamin is
mostly pissed-off at the poor AF of the K5.

"I need a camera where when go to a shoot, I don't feel paranoid
that half of my stuff is not in focus... :-("
I wonder if the new K-5II AF will improve the performance in the way
Benjamin is demanding (it actually seems more a low light sensitivity
improvement from what I read in the announcements).
That's just possible, Jaume. Ben often shoots on location in small but
picturesque rooms using portable lights, largely speedlights. That
means low light for focusing (no constant modeling light) and so AF
troubles galore. Been there myself, so I feel his pain.

The grass always seems to be greener until you jump the fence.

The claim is that the K-5II will auto focus at -3 EV. I think that both Canon and Nikon claim -1 EV. It depends on weather or not they live up to their marketing hype.

Don't lose heart, they might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthly search.
