I have spent a large part of the afternoon looking at photos taken with
the various lenses in the Pentax Photo Gallery.

Let me start with the worst news: my initial favourite, the 4/15 mm
Limited, is out of the game. One of the crucial factors in my night
stuff is the shape and size of the stars forming around light sources.
In this domain, the 15 mm Limited is by far the worst I've ever seen. As
luck would have it, someone had taken a photo of one of my favourite
subjects, the Seraing coking plant in Liège. It's the centre photo in
the top row:

There's a lot more examples, many even showing monstrous stars around
the sun by day. This is even worse than my all-time hate-object, the M
2.8/35 mm. Pity, really.

The 2.8/14 mm is better but not good. At least not good enough for
parting with such a lot of money.

Remains the Pentax 12 - 24 mm. It looks rather decent, in this domain.
But I'm afraid it will not be as sharp as a prime.

The same goes for the 10 - 20 mm Sigma.

Help!!! I'd like to take a wide-angle to our oncoming two-weeks
vacation. We're leaving on Thursday. What to do?
