I do not know anything about holograms on boxes, or the dealer in
question, but...

Alas, acceptance of ads by those magazines offers no protection, it
means only that the checks for the ad clear, and tells nothing about the
reliability of the merchant. There are many liars and unreliable dealers
in the photo mail-order business and they all advertise in most of the
mags.

I would be very leery of any mail order place in New York but B&H and
Adorama, generally considered reliable and honest. Some others also may
be ok, but advance research before dealing with most of them is prudent.

I took a quick look at some customer reports -- there are quite a few --
on World Photo & Video, at:

     http://www.photo.net/neighbor/one-subcategory?id=2

Mostly negative reports, but a few positive.

Another site reporting on customer views of dealers,

     http://www.cmpsolv.com/los/pmos.shtml

has only two entries for World -- both saying "avoid."

There also may be complaints with the Better Business Bureau, but I do
not have the URL.
