Scanned about 150 from 1967-69 last year - colours still as fresh as the day
they were taken.  One roll was loaned to me by a National Geographic
photographer who was on assignment on the island I was then living on: he
also took it back with him to Washington (IIRC) and had it processed under
NG specifications - man, they were good!  Colour depth was improved, as was
sharpness, so I don't know what alchemy was worked by them.

Greatly missed for quality work....
