The stump is about five feet in front of my front door. It's hard not to notice things to photograph on it. I really was trying to photograph the stump, preferably getting a shot of the stump and the mushrooms. When I started digging it out, I noticed how wonderfully tentacular the root system is. Last night was my first attempt at photographing it. My goal is to use light to isolate the roots from the background, but I'm having a tough time trying to figure out how to do that. I hope to get back to physically isolating the roots more in the near future. With more space between them and the dirt, visual isolation may be easier. I'm very interested in suggestions on how to do this. > > The shots are wonderfully sharp. I find the first few here a bit too > dark but I really liked the last two and especially the last one. Thank you. By the last two do you mean: >> >> Things are looking up >> http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/5225717773/ >> http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/5226309776/ Or the last two in the set? >> >> >> The whole set is at: >> http://www.flickriver.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157625385123895/ >> or if you prefer the flickr interface >> http://www.flickr.com/photos/ellarsee/sets/72157625385123895/ >> Boris, last night it only got down to about 5C, most of the last week it was down to about 1C and was feeling really chilly. And, yes, I realize how spoiled I am to complain that the temperature got almost down to freezing in November. Dave, yes, I was going specifically for that B-movie tentacular monster effect.
