The national landscape is dotted with "friendly local abortion
providers" who go about their day-to-day lives without bodyguards ...
which raises a question: How many "friendly local abortion providers"
are there in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, or any other predominantly
Islamic nation? And how long do you suppose one would last if it were
built?
And, why is it that it bothers so many people that the Old Testament
refers to the stoning of adulterers when cases of its adherents actually
doing so are virtually unheard of, while those same people can't even
bestir themselves to sneer at the conduct actually being performed as a
common practice by adherents of the Qu'ran as exponents of Shariah law?
I'm always amazed at the indignation of people who rail against the very
notion of organized religion whenever a lone nutcase murders an abortion
provider or phones in a bomb threat, while they placidly tut-tut the
shame of a culture that by regular practice saws of the clitoris of an
infant girl with a shard of glass in order to free her from temptation,
or takes a dagger to the ears and nose of an adolescent girl who has
brought shame upon her family by being seen in public with a boy she's
not related or married to.
You'll have to forgive me, but I find that all just a tad out of balance.

I'll buy the equivalence when Salman Rushdie can walk the world as freely

Ask your friendly local abortion provider whether fundamentalist
Christian hordes are as harmless as you suggest. (If you can find a
provider who hasn't been scared off.)
